Beneath the Dome

What should I do? What should I say to get you to stay with me? No magic word, no sleight of hand can change my fate today I need to know if I can trust you I want to see if you can share There is a chance that I am bluffing You need to come up for some air What did I do to change your tune? Was it something in the air? No magic words, no sleight of hand can change your mind today I need to know if I can trust you I want to see if you can share There is a chance that I am bluffing You need to come up for some air

Alone up on this mountain top, I watch the waters rise Should I take a chance and leave before the next surprise? I haven't seen a soul in weeks, no birds up in the sky The noises that I hear at night are sounds that terrify me There are no roads, just waterways that wind between the hills The cities far beneath the waves hide treasures to the gills If I can find a way to live beneath the Sun and stars Then I can make it back to you no matter where you are today The years have taken most of he land, and swallowed the people too But I can feel you out there searching- I'm always looking for you Someday our paths will cross again, two boats that sail through the night The waves may hold us back sometimes Sometimes we have to put up a fight There are no roads, just waterways that wind between the hills The cities far beneath the waves hide treasures to the gills If I can find a way to live beneath the Sun and stars Then I can make it back to you no matter where you are today

The Same Old 04:04
It’s the same old song and dance The same routine I don’t know where I stand I don’t care where I’ve been There’s a chance that I could fade away If I don’t sing There’s a dance that I could learn today If I could move It’s the same old ball and chain That keeps me here So I stand out in the rain To drown my fears There’s a chance that I could fade away If I don’t sing There’s a game that I could learn today If I could play Why do I put myself Through all this pain? How can I save myself If I don’t change today? It’s the same old smoke and mirrors To hide my shame I live my hopes and fears And try to change There’s a chance that I could fade away If I don’t sing There’s a wrong that I could right today If I could change

Outcast 06:35
There it is, in the trees, by the lake Can you see it? Is it hunting you? Now, make a break, take a chance in the tall grass If you can stay low Can you feel the fire? Can you see the glow? A machine, at night, will stalk you A machine will wait at dawn The Sun reveals the pathways The stars reveal what's wrong Stay away from ancient buildings Don't invade the ruins All that came before is nothing Look around the world This plant can save your life These rocks can save you too If you can, look for the high ground And wait for them to come to you Can you see the snowfall? Use it as a shield Stay away from ancient buildings Don't invade the ruins All that came before is nothing Look around the world There it is, in the trees, by the lake Can you see it? Is it hunting you? Now, make a break, take a chance in the tall grass If you can stay low

Fall under the gaze, fall into the sea A sea of fire and molten rock A shroud of clouds and gusts of wind From another fading world The Eye of Barad-dûr looks out across the world And straight into my soul- the wraith of Celebrimbor An age has passed and into dust The rumors float and swirl Into the dark all paths will lead The fears of men unfurl The Eye of Barad-dûr looks out across the world And straight into my soul- the wraith of Celebrimbor Secrets in shadows Dragons and lies Blankets of primrose Reveal a dark surprise Waiting, biding idle time, powers ebb and flow The darkest dream to hold the Earth and so the fires grow The Eye of Barad-dûr looks out across the world And straight into my soul- the wraith of Celebrimbor The Eye of Barad-dûr looks out across the world Secrets in shadows Dragons and lies Blankets of primrose Reveal a dark surprise It's the Eye

Monkey Grinder, do you want to find a home? And in between the spider webs, you call the world your own Are the pedals fuel from hell? Are they made from steel and bone? Are they made from flesh and chrome? Do you hear me? Monkey Grinder, is there sand in your shoes? Is this the life you want to lead? Is this the life you choose? Are the shadows filled with pain? Is it you that they abuse? Is it you that they accuse? Can you hear me? Do you see me? Monkey Grinder Why do you abandon hope and understanding When you enter here? There is nothing left to fear Monkey Grinder, is there fire on your skin? Are your wages filled with death? Are your coffers filled with sin? Is your life spent on the roads Just watching the wheels grow thin? Are you watching the world spin? Do you hear me? Can you see me? Do you know me? Can you hear me? Do you see me? Can you feel me? Do You want to know me? Monkey Grinder

mama, please don’t take me home leave me until i’ve grown living beneath the dome find me before i go too far flowers for algernon or maybe the wrath of khan people have come and gone all in the name of progress where do i go to change this attitude? how do i break these rules? how do i show my gratitude to those who broke the rules before? how can you make believe when you walk next to me nothing to set you free why do you want to deceive me maybe you don’t believe maybe you think you see the forest but not the trees why do you want me to fail Where do i go to change this attitude? how do i break the rules? how do i show my gratitude to those who broke the rules before? there are no roads to take there are no laws to break i am not your mistake why don’t you try to stay awake

Why do I believe that all the people love me? Who do I deceive when I say it's true? What can I achieve when I put my guard up? Is it make-believe to say that I amaze you? Is it hard to take the high road when you are in need? Is it hard to see the forest when I cut down all the trees? How can you compete when you haven't started? Is it just a dream to think that you are done? Where did you succeed? Was it in the ether? And now it's time to leave, before your turn is done Is it hard to take the high road when I won't concede? Is it hard to see the forest when you're standing in the weeds? Am I just a seed, growing deep inside you? Do you find relief, knowing that it's true? Life is always changing, are you in the middle Of turning yourself blue? Or is it just a scheme? Is it hard to take the high road if it isn't free? Is it hard to see the forest listing in the breeze? Why do you believe that all the people love me? Who do you deceive when you say it's true? What can you achieve when you put your guard up? And is it make-believe to say that I amaze you? Is it hard to take the high road when you are a dweeb? Is it hard to see the forest when you are asleep?

The Accords 05:11
You said this path was taken You said this path was true All of these changes and all of these rules Are just smoke and mirrors to hide the real you Now I need to break through There are doors that need to be opened There are doors that need to stay closed And now it's time to choose The mountains are high enough The valleys are low The trees are just green enough Now it's time to go Did you see the cities on fire? Did you hear about chambers of gold? How did that make you feel? The mountains are far enough The valleys are cold The trees have all disappeared The wells have gone dry The village is empty now There's nothing to hold Dust is what we can breathe As we watch it all unfold You said this path was righteous You said this path was true All of these changes and all of these rules Will come back to haunt you And now you know you will lose The mountains were high enough The valleys were low The forests were green enough When they were full Where have the llamas gone? Where is their wool? The stars are not bright enough To show us the way The path you have chosen Will kill off the world You show no emotions Except for your fear The days are just long enough To understand That what we choose has effects Our children will pay for it
10.
Into the dark, I take my chances Into the night, I’ll take my time Under the ruins of this broken city I’ll make my home Was there a time that you gave your blessings? Is there a chance that I’ll give you mine? Why do you hide beneath the shadows? Why do you hide? Why do you run? Why do I hide to keep you guessing? Why do I run and then stop and wait? Why do you think this world is changing? Why do you care if I am late? Into the dark, we take our chances Into the night we hide our eyes Under the ruins of this broken city We find a home We’re not alone Everywhere you look life is thriving Every chance you take you feel more alive Every time you try you have to get by Everything we do together feeds our souls And gives us something else to do

about

Gratzi, Anthony Kapfer, for introducing me to FAWM (February Album Writing Month), and for alerting me to 50/90!

Same concept as FAWM (14 songs in 28 days), but this time, try to write 50 songs in 90 days. From July 4 to October 1. He told me on July 8. 86 days...

I love the idea. I love the challenge. I love the people on FAWM (and 50/90). It's a global music family. Thank you again, Anthony!

Every day I would go down to the Dungeons and grab an instrument, play something, and write a song.

This is volume four of the 50/90 songs. A bit heavier and dirge-ier. There's even a metal song! Some dystopia, some observations, a little Tolkien, and a lot of passion.

For Benjamin, and for Melissa.
