Southern Sky

Why do I hate the Southern Sky?
The clouds are turning black again
The rain is getting mean again
It’s time to find a way home
Where do I find a little time?
To change the pictures in my brain
To stand up to this hurricane
I need to find some time
I need to try
The stars have disappeared into the void
The wind will change the face of the world
How do I change my fate again?
The water blocks my way ahead
The power lines have all gone dead
It’s time to find a new way home
And so I find that the pictures of the dead
Leave their traces flailing all around
Their faces buried underground
I need to understand
I need to find some safer land
I need to try
The time to change has slipped away
And now we face a darker day
The stars have disappeared into the void
This wind will change the fate of the world

First Pass

Why do I, why do I need to take my time?
How do I know if I can change your mind?
Where do I go to make this first design?
When do I change the rules to make it mine?
Why do you need it too? That is not yours
It’s not for you to realign or reassure
Another road, another path for you to take
Another day, another night, another break
Why do I, why do I need to turn around?
It’s over here, and over there and underground
Just take a breath and take it slow then we’ll be gone
Another day, another night, another dawn
Not alive, it’s not alive, it’s not alive
I promise you, it’s not alive, it’s just a tool
Follow me and listen too, it’s just a tool
A line of code, a slice of life, and secret rules
Settle down, it’s not the time to move
Now it’s time to go
Pick it up, there are torches everywhere
Why do I, why do I need to change my mind?
How do I, how do I make my first design?
Why do I, why do I need to turn around?
Why am I, why am I deeper underground?

Restore
05:41
|
|||
And in between the mountains and the sea
The wind is trying to shape the world
The trees have learned to sing
The heavens open up their doors as the rain begins to pour
The window to eternity has has left me wanting to restore
Falling backwards
(I don’t wanna know the truth)
(I don’t wanna hear the words)
Waiting for the storm
(I don’t wanna know about the world)
Slowly changing
(I don’t wanna live in fear)
(I don’t wanna change my mind)
Wanting to re-form
(I don’t wanna hear about the girl)
And in between the liars and the thieves
The shadows hide beneath their words
And the world is in-between
The answers dance around the floor
Changing sides for evermore
The questions face mortality as they try to explore the truth
Falling backwards
(I don’t wanna know the truth)
(I don’t wanna hear the words)
Waiting for the storm
(I don’t wanna know about the world)
Slowly changing
(I don’t wanna live in fear)
(I don’t wanna change my mind)
Wanting to re-form
(I don’t wanna hear about the girl)

Survivors
05:20
|

On one side, a color takes it’s turn
Then another tries to make it burn
The board is swept, and only two remain
Should they face each other down, or roll the dice again
Tension fills the room, you can cut it with a knife
But no ones wants to move, or oversimplify
The years begin to drag, and weigh the pieces down
The forces that were moving them have left the battleground
Do they understand it’s not about their lives?
Are they more than enemies?
Can they change their minds, and join the other side?
Can they find a way to just survive?
Are they more alike than either one could know?
Or are they more afraid to be alone?
Do they understand it’s not about their lives?
Are they more than simple enemies?
Can they see both sides having never had to move?
Can they be both sides or none at all?
On the other side, a piece begins to move
The other color tries to show there’s nothing left to prove
Both of them could lose, and both of them could die
It doesn’t have to win to let them both survive

The door is open - Don’t wash away in the flood
The bodies pile up - Don’t wipe away the blood
You don’t know how to live - Unless you’re killing time
You don’t know how to give - Unless you’re taking mine
There is a road, there is a light
There is another time
It’s not enough to disappear
You can’t commit the crime
You want to run, you want to hide
You want to live and die
Change your clothes and disappear
Before the spire chimes
There is a path that passes through
A forest with no trees
You take the high road in between
The mountains and the sea
You want to change, you want to win
It isn’t in your cards
The devils are beneath the road
And so they take up arms
And so it goes, the devils live inside
And so you show your weaker side
The door is closing - Find a way inside
Your fear is giving way to all your empty pride
You don’t know how to die - Unless you’re killing time
You don’t know how to live - Unless you’re stealing mine

The Last Breath
04:07
|
|||
Why should I run when I can lay my head on the ground?
Where would I run if I had a choice?
Now I can see that the road is still ahead of me
Now I can hear that the waves are rushing after me
Why would I save my last breath for you?
Where could I go that hasn’t already changed?
Why should I choose, as if I had a choice?
Why should I save my last breath for you?
And now I can take my last breath
Now I can take my last breath
And now I can take my last breath for me

Into the Void
06:45
|
|||
how do i take these steps?
why do i call your name?
when i look for you, you’re not around
when i call for you, you don’t make a sound
i can see you in my mind
i can feel you in the sky
why do i hear your voice
when the wind is barely there?
how can i save these memories
when everything has changed?
i can feel you in my mind
i can hear you in the night
who do i turn to now?
who do i ask again and again?
when i call for you, you’re not around
when i’m quiet i can hear your sounds
i can hear you in my mind
i remember you in time
those days have come and gone and i am left alone
those days are gone and i am here
why do i ask these questions?
how do i find the answers?
i can see the path right in front of me
but i don’t know where to go
i can see you in my mind
i can feel you in the sky
i can feel you in my mind
i can hear you in the night
i can hear you in my mind
i remember you in time

The Simple Life
06:07
|
|||
And down I fall into the void
It’s not enough to be destroyed
A simple lie undoes my truth
A simple life that ends with you
A broken time, a darker hue
To change my mind, and clear my view
The neon lights distilled in rain
The sounds of night begin to change
Begin to disappear
And so it starts to disappear
A simple life that ends with you
I learn to fear, I learn to run
I shed no tears, and now I’m done
An alley way, a tattered dress
A line of fire, a perfect mess
Begin to disappear
And so I find another way to you
A flash of light and crack of bone
A dirty fight inside my home
A hint of fire, a whiff of smoke
A lost desire, a final joke
Begin to disappear
And so it starts to disappear
A simple life that ends with you
And down we go into the void
It’s not enough to be destroyed
A simple lie that kills the truth
And so it goes and goes
A simple life that starts with me falls apart with me and you
A frozen smile and fading eyes
An empty street and vacant cries
The neon lights begin to fade
The sounds at night begin to change
Begin to disappear
And so it starts to disappear
A simple life that ends with you

This Sleeve
06:44
|
|||
Into the fire - And under the bungalow
A trip through the wires and an altar to overthrow
A single desire - Spreading like vertigo
I preach to the choir - And cross the line into Mexico
Why should I wear this sleeve?
I need to find a new belief
I don’t understand
I don’t understand anything
Open the case - A secret to spread the word
And time to displace something that I overheard
A biker in space - or something else absurd
Like winning the race only to come in third
Malevolent - another place to begin
A broken assent - and I take it on the chin
A new element to clear the path from within
A gift to prevent - a talkative harlequin
Why should I wear this sleeve?
I need to find a new belief
I need to find some more relief
And on the back of this turtle, I’ll find a way to leave
Under the gaze of a sad and lonely god
And into the maze - a humorless failing façade
A cast set ablaze - and I find it odd
The mysterious ways of a genuine fraud
Under the gun - and over the Crescent Moon
And isn’t it fun to waste a whole afternoon
I won’t be outdone by the Sun or a bitter raccoon
A true simpleton waits for the Harvest Moon
