about

from the original liner notes:

"I had a dream that was my life. And my life was a dream...

I awoke next to the water's edge and I felt the world sway. I was terrified. Above the waves the sky was turning pitch. Mist began to cover my body, as a fog rolled out from the land behind me. It gently pushed me into the water.

The water felt warm rushing around my ankles. A wind blew in from the West, bringing rain as it chased away the fog. A song formed at the base of my skull and reverberated through me and into the water.

I felt anger, betrayal, lust, and fear all at once. Every ounce of energy was wasted as I fought the pounding waves. Farther away now, the land shuddered and whispered a prayer for me. I began to twist and flail. My head began to flood, and my eyes water. I was being pulled apart from the inside. And then, everything went black as I sank into the mire.

I don't know how long I was under- days. weeks. months.years. All this time, the river flowed.

And as I fell deeper- as the water passed under me, over me, and through me, I felt saturation to the point of bursting. I couldn't take it any more, so I let go.

At first, it was just a gurgle- a bubble of a whisper. I opened my eyes to the Sun- to Amaterasu. She turned me towards a lost highway. I wandered for a time, trying to understand the things I had witnessed, the things I had a hand in. There was a ghost of a whisper in my soul, and there became understanding.

It's always darkest in the early hours of the morning, just before the Sun. It is also the most peaceful. It allows you to accept the night before and welcome the new dawn.

As I looked up the mountain side, I felt strength. From the summit, I surveyed the land. But I could still feel the pill of the sea. I realized I couldn't live without the sea and more than it could live without me.

Well, I'm running to the sea, and I'll make my home where my heart should be. And I know I'll see you and set your heart free. When I sail across the sea.

Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream."
