about

Written and recorded on October 22, 2020. Sometimes you have to shout into the rain. Sometimes the rain is too loud. These days, it seems like the ignorant and uninformed and conspiracy whackos are yelling louder than those trying to share actual facts. You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to an INFORMED opinion (to paraphrase Harlan Ellison).

lyrics

If I stand at the center of the crowd, should I make myself heard?
If I yell at the top of my lungs, am I just being absurd?
There’s no safety in numbers if the sheep are just pushed off the cliffs.
As the wolves chase them over, the rams and the dogs are beginning to shift.

The louder I yell, the dimmer my eyes seem to get.
The harder I push, the smaller ideas seem to threat.

If I cower at the back of the room, how can I make sure that I'm heard?
If I hide behind the rules of the fools, I’m just laying down to die with the herd.
There’s no safety in numbers if the people just continue to die.
Just because the truth is too inconvenient, it doesn’t make it a lie.

Your belief doesn’t weigh more than the facts.
Your ignorance should count for anything.

I’ll fight against the tyrants and the fools to show my son a better way- a better life.
He can see me standing up for the ones who maybe can’t,
And find a way to save the world again.

Religion is a path that tends to destroy everything
It divides and belittles our lives
It’s meant to frighten us and force its control
There’s no heaven or hell but what we make for ourselves
There are no gods living out in the skies, they are in our minds

If you want peace, try starting with yourself.
Then try to love and accept everyone.
