about

The Dreams of Children, one of my more popular songs back in the day. Written by Leo and I on March 20 and 22, 1988. Pretty sure we wrote this in my parents basement, where we rehearsed. The lyrics were pretty heartfelt back then, and and now that I'm a dad, even more so. This is near the original.

lyrics

Dabbling in dreams of grand delusions
Standing in the center of a smokey room
Dancing dangerously close to the edge of time

Fighting in the face of ferocious adversaries
Help me, someone please wake me up
Help me, am I still falling down?

The dreams of children fade too fast
Come out and lie down in the grass
Snowmen melting in the Sun
And the dreams of children

Together hand and hand, we played every day
But the nights we couldn't stand, so we stayed up late and played

But today we're lost in society
Nothings right, and still nothing's wrong
How I wish that I could be young and free
But the lonely nights are, oh, so long

Remember the first steps
Remember the fun
Remember the dreams
