Written by me on February 22, 1988. I was (and still am) a big Sting and the Police fan. Trying to write a story song. Not as religious as some might think (the "up to you" bit is not about a deity). Also, the reason I am looking at the floor whilst drumming is because there was a Brown Recluse spider at my feet (thankfully dead, but I didn't know that at the time). Apparently I crushed it with the drum pedal whilst practicing. I was watching it to make sure it didn't move. It did not.

But he was always hiding his tears
And drowning in his fears
